Sport plays a very important part in the overall education of children. With the increase in the amount of leisure time in our modern society, and increasing childhood obesity statistics it is imperative we educate our children towards worthwhile pursuits. Sport is such a one. All children at Farleigh State School should have the opportunity to compete at sport whenever the possibility arises. It also builds school pride and good sportsmanship.
Farleigh State School is a member of the 'Sporting Schools Program'.
- All students take part in a 10 minute exercise break in the middle of our morning teaching session.
Students not participating in organised sports through illness will be required to engage in additional school work, monitoring, or other useful but less strenuous activities.
A doctor’s certificate is required for continuous non-participation in the physical education, sporting or swimming programs of this school.
Every student must realise that, while it is the aim of the game to win, the essence of sporting activity is in the participation and striving to improve in the many sporting skills. Pupils will however, endeavour to develop the attitude of simply being a good sport, (in the true Australian tradition,) as well as bearing in mind the school motto - 'United we achieve'.
Farleigh State School is fortunate to have a huge range of sporting equipment allowing children to gain skills in a wide range of sports.
