The goal of our literacy programs is to develop and refine students’ ability to compose and comprehend spoken and written English - fluently, appropriately, effectively and critically - for a range of personal and social purposes.
We focus heavily on spelling, punctuation and grammar aspects of a child’s learning. Children receive in depth assistance and guidance through small ability based groups, which ensures maximum learning. This is particularly the case in reading. Students practice nightly reading assisted by a home reading diary.
Language other than English (LOTE)
Children will learn to use a LOTE beginning in prep. Japanese is taught at Farleigh State School at present.
